Legacy tables were removed from the VCdb in 2013! AceMapper still provides Legacy support, but only if the Legacy tables are found in the VCdb. You can use our RetroVCdb product to recreate the Legacy tables using current VCdb configurations.

Steps to convert ACES to Legacy (with compression)

  1. Start AceMapper. Make sure the VCdb loaded matches the one used in the file you are importing. If not, you might want to import that version (it can take several hours, however). We keep multiple databases for this reason and it is simple to change between them with Administration > Change Database.

  2. File > Import ACES xml… (no need to create the document first. It will use settings from the xml file)

  3. Select the “Brand” to import with (It lets you create one or use an existing one)

  4. After it finishes importing, File > Commit / Rollback Import, Press Commit on the dialog

  5. Maintain > Brands and change the AAIA “Brand Code” if you want. This will be used on Export if ACES 3.0 file. You have different brand codes for Fuel Pumps, if I remember correctly, so you could set up two or more (i.e. Bosch - Fuel Pumps, etc.)

  6. Process > Compress… to bring up compression settings dialog

Note about compression settings: The order is not critical, other than to make sure you have “Engine Base” first if you want to select the “Keep Engine Base” option (for engine-dependent product lines like spark plugs and fuel pumps). Otherwise, compression could remove Engine Base if it was the only engine, for example.

You might consider putting the 14 legacy attributes (e.g. Sub-Model, Engine VIN, Designation and Region) toward the bottom. Put attributes higher if you’d rather see you product line in those terms. But it rarely makes a big difference.

If you want to play with different settings, compress, then take a look a a make or two using View > ACES Applications and “Rollback” the compression if you don’t like how things look. You can do a similar thing by first saving a “Snapshot” (Process > ACES Application Snapshots) and give it a name like “Before Compression”. Then you can restore the snapshot if you need to.

  7. Process > Commit / Rollback Compression, then press Commit.

  8. Process > Publish ACES

  9. Select “Add Brand” (pick the brand you imported with), select the row and press “Publish” (use the provided publish date). If you select the wrong brand, nothing will publish unless you have loaded an “interchange” on Part Maintenance.

  10. Press “Export”

  11. Select ACES 3.0, fill in the bold (required) fields (ACES 2.0 will not include AAIA Brand Code in the header). Check “Include Invalid Apps” (in case something changed in the VCdb to invalidate you import file).

  12. For Legacy output, select “Base Vehicle” and “Include Legacy”. (This is the only setting that allows Legacy output).

  13. For make/model output, select Make/Year instead.

  14. You can delete the document once you’re finished if it was for conversion only.
