Why do some engine displacements have parenthesis around them

If a displacement value (cc or cid) is not included in the VCdb engine table, we calculate the value and put it in parenthesis. Do not rely solely on a calculated cc or cid when mapping an engine. It could lead to an incorrect mapping and incorrect applications. It is especially dangerous if there are two engines that are very close in displacement.

Having said that, remember that an application will not be created unless all mappings match up. In other words, a Make/Model/Year must exist for the Make/Engine/Year.
