When Would I “Manually Map” a Source Application?

The only time manual mapping should be necessary is when you have an application you are certain is correct, but it is not valid according to the VCdb.

Manual maps are accomplished on the Application Mapping screen, one at a time using the + (Insert map) button. If you find you have a lot of applications that don’t map, it’s best to first check your “helper maps” to make sure they are correct and complete (and then double-check the accuracy of your source data). You might also submit your findings to autocarevip (so they become valid in future VCdb updates).

In some cases, if the attributes you need exist somewhere in the vehicle table, you’ll be able to manually map the application. In order to export these manually mapped applications, you need to check “Include Invalid Applications” on the Export Options screen. The applications will have validate = “no” flag set in the ACES file. Receivers may or may not accept these applications.
