AceViewer 4.0 Updates

Part Number Interchange (4.0.0)

The headline feature in 4.0 is Part Number Interchange — the ability to replace part numbers during a Save As export using an external lookup file. This is useful when you need to publish the same applications under a new numbering scheme (private label, brand consolidation, supersession lists, etc.).

  • Supports Access (.mdb / .accdb), Excel (.xlsx), and delimited text (.csv / .txt) interchange files.
  • A two-page wizard guides file selection, data preview, and column mapping.
  • Choose to export all rows (non-matched rows keep their original part numbers) or only rows with interchange matches.
  • The completion message reports how many part numbers were replaced.

See Save As for the surrounding export workflow.

DigitalAsset preservation through Save As (4.0.0)

When you Save As to an ACES file, the DigitalAsset section from the source file is preserved — but filtered down to only the entries actually referenced by the exported applications (matched by AssetName). Multiple DigitalFileInformation entries per AssetName are supported, so files with different LanguageCode or action values pass through correctly.

The Row Viewer also now shows the matching DigitalFileInformation XML below the application XML for any row that references a digital asset.

Hide Empty Columns and column-reorder fixes (4.0.0)

Two related grid-display bugs were fixed:

  • Crash when hiding empty columns and then switching to Separate Columns view — stale hidden-column state was corrupting the grid.
  • Hide Empty Columns failing to hide all the truly empty columns when the user had previously reordered columns by dragging.

Asset row coloring (4.0.1)

Asset rows are now displayed in green in the grid and in all exports (previously the green tint was only visible on screen). Deleted asset rows (Action = D) use maroon to distinguish them from regular delete rows, which remain red.

Large file handling (4.0.2)

Several fixes that improve performance and stability with very large ACES files:

  • Improved processing throughput on larger files.
  • Larger Excel output files are now handled correctly.
  • The Cancel button works reliably while loading an ACES file.
