I get “A database update is required…” message

Q: After registering PIESCentral on a new PC, I get this error when trying to open the program. (The program is up to date as well.)

A: This indicates that there a database update with the latest program update. The database update will be applied automatically if PIESCentral is run by a user with db_owner permissions in the database. Make sure that all other users update to the latest version of PIESCentral as well or they will be asked to update.

If necessary, you can have someone in IT manually update the database as follows:

  1. Run “select * from version” to get current version.

  2. Find all scripts with a higher version than your current version. The scripts are located in C:\Program Files (x86)\PIESCentral\DbUpdates.

  3. Run the update scripts in order.
