Why is Currency Required on the Pricing Map?

Currency is required on the pricing map (either as an import value or default value) because it is part of the key on the Price segment.

On export, if the Currency Code on the Price is the Same as the Currency Code on the Price Sheet, it is not output. The same is true for the Effective Date. We suspect that this could change with some receivers requiring currency code and effective date on each price. Advance, for example, does not read the price sheet segment at all.

(Similarly, Advance ignores the default language on the document and requires a language code on each description. They say the default language code is optional so they don’t have to read it).
