Importing Pending Comments

Q: What columns need to be included for the pending comment import? The file came back from NAPA and has the pending comment ID, the comment and the new ID assigned by Napa. I tried to import this and it gave me an error.

Pending CommentIDPending Comment TextNAPA CommentID
10000001To 11/26/07356128
10000002Except Ball Type356125
10000003w/ Offset Front Axle356129

A: The import should have 4 columns with no column headers. The columns should contain the following information:

[Pending CommentID], [Pending Comment Text], [NAPA CommentID], [NAPA Comment Text]

The example in the question above is missing the the Napa Comment Text column. It is used by ProMapper to update the Comment Text so it matches the one NAPA will include in the next Translate.mdb.

When pending comments are exported for NAPA (File > Export pending comments), any pending comments that are not used in maps or on applications are automatically deleted and not included in the export file.

If NAPA rejects a request to add a comment and tells you to use an existing comment, just put the existing CommentID in the pending file as you would a new NAPA CommentID. ProMapper checks to see if the comment exists. If the comment doesn’t exist, it adds it. If if does exist it just changes all the maps to use the CommentID from NAPA and deletes the pending comment.
