Sister Vehicle Coverage

NAPA supplies a list of related vehicles through a “SisterVehicleID” in their VehicleMaster table. These “Sister Vehicles” can span makes, models and years. (For example, the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra series trucks).

The Analyze > Check sister vehicles menu brings up a screen with two grids (in separate tabs), one grid shows Missing Sister Applications and the other shows Existing Sister Applications. All analysis is performed on a single Part Category (MPCC), so you must first select one from the drop down. Both grids can be filtered on the Sister Vehicle ID. If an application exists for one sister, it is considered to be missing if it doesn’t exist for another sister, provided that the application would be valid on that sister. (e.g. If the application calls out convertible and the sister doesn’t come as a convertible, that application is not considered missing).

Options:

  1. Check for any coverage - A sister vehicle will not be reported missing if it has any application for the selected MPCC. The application does not have to match the sister application in any way.

  2. Check for part only - A sister vehicle will not be reported missing if it has an application with the same part. The conditions and comments may differ.

  3. Limit Submodels - If a sister application calls out a submodel, the sister vehicle must have a submodel with the same name to be included in the missing sister applications. With this option checked, submodel behaves like other conditions (body style, drive type, etc.) When unchecked, submodel on the application is ignored.

  4. Limit Years - When checked, a missing sister application is reported only if there is an existing sister application for the same year. When unchecked, this can help you find where you are missing coverage on a year that is included in the sister vehicles. (For a single model, 1999, 2000 and 2001 may have one Sister Vehicle ID because they are essentially the same. 2002 and 2003 might have a different Sister Vehicle ID. So if you have an application for the 1999, you should probably have the 2000 and 2001 as well.)
