Publishing UAP Canada Branded Files

The first step in getting Canada to export is to load parts for Canada with an interchange to US. Generally, we recommend having these three brands:

  1. Primary Brand. The Primary brand would contain all of your parts whether they are sold to NAPA US, NAPA Canada or both. It would have your original part numbers (since NAPA sometimes changes part numbers).

  2. NAPA US. NAPA US would have just the parts that are sold to NAPA US with any changes to the part number. (This does not need to be a “raw” part because publishing provides an option to strip punctuation).

  3. NAPA Canada. NAPA Canada would have just the parts sold to NAPA Canada.

You only need to map your applications once for the primary brand (since the primary brand includes all parts) and then publish just the interchanged applications for US and for Canada.

To import the interchanged part numbers, prepare a file (Access database table or delimited text file) with the following columns: (Column names are not critical. You can name columns however you want)

Primary Part Number
Availablity Date (optional - defaults to current date)
Part Descrition (optional defaults to null)
PartStatus (A=Active, I=Inactive) (Optional - defaults to A)
NAPA US Part Number
NAPA US PartStatus (Optional)
NAPA Canada PartNumber
NAPA Canada PartStatus
(you can add as many PartNumber/PartStatus columns as necessary)

Go to Maintain > Parts. Click the Import button and select the file. Identify each of the columns. For the Part and Part Status columns click the button (in the Parameters column) to select the brand for the column.

Next, go to Part Description Mapping and set the brands to US and Canada to match the Line Codes.

Once you’ve done this, go to Process > Publish, click Add and select NAPA Canada for the Brand. Then publish and export.
