Helper Maps

While it’s possible (but not recommended) to map applications one at a time using the Map Applications Screen, AceMapper is designed to map at a higher level. This section shows how to map unique lists of pieces of an application, for example Makes, Models and Comments.

Even though these “Helper Maps” are stored at a global, database level, they are only “active” for the document you are working on. This gives you the ability to use existing maps made from other documents but also override that mapping if necessary.

In all cases, when you bring up something to map, the system will show any existing maps for that data without respect to document. If no map exists or none of the maps are appropriate, a new map can be created. When a new map is created, it will automatically be marked for use on the current document.

Of course, you can always edit an existing map and, with an appropriate warning, have it affect all documents that use that map. You can also delete a map that is used only on the current document or on other documents as well. If the comment map is used on multiple documents, you will be informed of the number of maps using the map and asked to confirm the delete.

Once the Helper maps are set up, you can use the Create ACES Applications function to auto- generate equivalent ACES applications using these maps.

⚠️NOTE: There is no direct link between helper maps and the applications created on the Map Applications screen. Changing a helper map will not automatically create related ACES applications. However, when you change a helper map, any related ACES applications will be removed.

Each helper map screen also supplies a “Delete Application Maps” feature that allows you to remove any related applications so you can regenerate them.
