Product Groups

One way to organize your product data is by using “product groups”. This is completely optional, but can be very helpful if you want to limit which parts are delivered to your trading partners using some internal product grouping.

Product groups are defined by a two-level hierarchy, and are delivered in the Item segment using Product Group Code (B60) and Product Sub-Group Code (B61). The maximum number of characters for these codes are 10.

In this example, we’ve created a “Clutch” product group and “Clutch Cover” and “Clutch Disc” subgroups. The codes you choose are completely up to you (and do not reference any industry table).
