Update Pending Comments

Version 1.6 added support for updating pending comments (while keeping the original method). There is a new File menu option “Update pending comments”.

Select the file with new comments provided by NAPA. This file should be an Excel .xlsx file with the first row being a header. The program attempts to automatically update all pending comments where there is an exact match (case insensitive) with what NAPA provides.

If there are any pending comments remaining after the exact matching, you will get a screen to match them up one at a time. There are two ways to use the screen. (1) When you select a NAPA comment and click Apply, immediately update the database. This is probably fine for just a few comments. The drawback is that it is not possible to undo. (2) Create a file that matches what is required by “Import pending comments”. The file can be reviewed in Excel before importing and updating the database. (You can also create the file when updating immediately to provide a log of the mapping).

NAPA includes “comment_” in front of assigned comment IDs. There is no reason to change this field as ProMapper will process them correctly.

⚠️Note: In the past, NAPA provided newly assigned comments as tab-delimited, but with an incorrect Excel (.xls) extension. This incorrect extension on the NAPA file is strange and causes a problem for our import routines.
