Mapping Engine-Directed Files
ProMapper supports engine-directed files. Models are not required. NAPA applications are always model-directed. If your application doesn’t have a model, ProMapper will create applications for all models that have the engine in the years specified.
There are two approaches to handling models in Engine Directed applications:
-
Keep the model column, but leave it blank if the application applies to all models. Don’t use “All Models”. That would require all models to be mapped to a list of models. If you need to include model, the model column can contain a single model or a list of models. Choose this option if you have more than a few models to map.
-
Include model names in the comments. You can map them to the Model Name condition. Choose this option only if you have very few models that need to be mapped. Mapping models in much easier in the Model Mapping screen than in the Comment Mapping screen.
If necessary, you can also put “All Years” in the year range column. ProMapper will create applications for all years the engine exists and attach the application to all models with that engine in the valid those years.
You can combine the two approaches, including some models in the model column and other models in the comments if there is any need to do so.
